Tourists, who are going to visit Goa, must pay attention towards certain things. Most of the people visit Calangute due to its magnificent beaches. Swimming and water sports can be enjoyed throughout the year, except in the monsoons from June to September.
Insects like mosquitoes increase in this period. The roads are in bad conditions. Driving ones own car or scooter can be risky due to rash driving practices of the local people. Hiring taxis is the best and safest option for tourists. Drink packaged water to avoid water borne diseases.
Most of the shopkeepers try to get out more money from a tourist. Hence, always roam around the market and confirm the prices.
Tourists must remain alert on the airport and railway stations lest one encounters the local guides who can be troublesome and pester you for the rest of the tour. Unfortunately their rates aren’t so cheap to let them carry the bags.
Dogs are another nuisance in the city. Stay away from them.
Change the currency from reputed banks, rather than the local people.
