Mosquitoes and diseases spread by them is a serious issue in Candolim. Though, the chances of getting affected with malaria are narrow, one must take sufficient care.
Carry tablets for protection against malaria. These are available in local drug stores as well.
Mosquito repellents and nets are essential unless one is staying in five star luxurious hotels. Carry packaged water, which protects against water- borne diseases.
Since it is a beach area, beachwear is a must. Sun- screen lotion, hat and sun glasses add to the list. Carry flip- flops as they are comfortable while walking on streets.
The streets and land here are uneven, hence, fancy sandals or shoes are not recommended here. Moreover, the red colored dust ruins ones footwear.
Carry comfortable and light clothes like shorts, skirts; peddle pushers or anything that does not touch the land.
Also carry half sleeved shirts, t-shirts and sleeveless tops. Warm clothes are a strict no- no on this warm and humid beach.
