Batim Lake

Batim Lake is a popular lake in Goa known especially for bird watching the  fresh water birds visiting each year.  One can find this beautiful lake in Batim village in the Tiswadi Taluka (county) of Goa, having numerous fields and salt pans.  Batim Lake is a delightful place to wander, with exceptional water flow areas.

Though the lake is small, one can expect many species of birds migrating here like Lesser Whistling Duck (common at this lake), Purple Swampher, Cotton Pygmy goose other than Comb Duck, Darter and Spot billed Duck.  A lucky few visitors can get to see these birds visiting the lake to make it their home. These include Gadwall, Northern Shoveler, Cotton Pygmy-goose, Common coot, Common Teal, Garganey and Northern Pintail.  Year around, photographers from around the world visit this beautiful lake to capture the migratory birds.
