Holy Spirit Church
Holy Spirit Church lies on India’s western coast. Even though Goa had been liberated in the year 1961 from the rule of Portuguese, their presence is still felt in the existing culture. In Goa, one would find a mix of Portuguese and Western cultures. As such, Holy Spirit Church stands in Margao’s Old Market Square. The year 1564 marked its construction by Jesuit missionaries. However, it was subject to destruction in the year 1571. The reconstruction took place in the year 1645. The church which is seen today took 3 decades for completion. The architecture of Holy Spirit Church is amongst the best examples of ‘Indian Baroque style’. Façade on the outer side is pristine white. Moreover, it goes on to tower on any of the sides with ‘central dome structure’. This church also has a gorgeous interior replete; encompassed with pipe organ. This organ is being renovated right now.
