Dr. Salim Bird Sanctuary is among the best bird shelters considered in India. Based on the Island of Chorao, it is built around the river Mandovi in Goa. The sanctuary measures 1.78 sq.km and is filled with mangrove forests. This places includes almost all variety of birds found in India but also houses some rare species like the ‘Black Drongo’ and the ‘Mudskipper’.
