The St. Cajetan’s Church is close to the ruins of the Viceregal Palace and five hundred meters to the north east of the Se Cathedral.
The St. Cajetan’s Church was formerly called as Church of Our Lady of Divine Providence. While constructing the St. Cajetan’s church the pattern of the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome is utilized due to this, the St. Cajetan’s Church is of Corinthian architecture both internally and externally.
The altars are golden and have beautiful carvings in the delicate Baroque style. The building of the church is basically made of laterite blocks and plastered with lime.
The church and convent of St. Cajetan is built by the Italian friars. St. Cajetan was the founder of the Theatine order and was a contemporary of St. Francis Xavier.
After entering the Church, there are the altars of St. Agnes, St. Cajetan and St. John to the right and the altars of St. Clare and the Holy family of Our Lady of Piety to the left.
On the right hand side of the church, there is a large altar dedicated to St. Cajetan. As this church has impressive architectural forms, a lot of tourists from all over the world are enticed towards this place.
