Dada Hari is situated at about three-km NE from the city center of Ahmedabad. Constructed in Muslim architectural style, this deep well was built in 1501 AD to provide a resting place and source of drinking water for travelers.

The pillars and walls show remarkable resemblance to Hindu culture as well. A superintendent from the royal-harem, Bai Harir Sultani ordered the construction of the well.

The descending steps of the well lead to a series of underground platforms which were supposedly used for secret meetings. The surrounding walls of this spiral stair-case are fabulously decorated. The well was elegantly carved out in soft-sandstone and is very deep, resulting in cool waters even on a hot day.

The best time to visit the well is during 10 to 11 AM, as at that time, the sun rays fall directly into the deep waters and one can the sculptured floral-patters and carved figurines.
