Tourist Guide Bhavnagar
During the early 17th century Bhavsinhji Gohil ruled a city which was later called as the Bhavnagar after the name of its king and ruler. The city of Bhavnagar is one of the oldest cities in the entire state of Gujarat. The Bhavnagar city has the trivia that it is the first city amongst the princely states to join in with democratic India. Bhavnagar has been a centre of attraction since medieval times due to its location on the coast of the Arabian Sea. Its history of wars in the city proves it all. The city comprises a total geographical area of around 21 square miles. The vast area makes it one of the top ten largest cities in India. When the last census was measured in the year 2001 the population of the city was around 510,974. The city is also known for its educational institutes and many historic monuments. In recent times the city has erected many buildings which comprise of big libraries, educational institutes, museums, art galleries, etc. The climate of the city is dry sub tropical.
