Kaba Gandhi’s Gate
Kaba Gandhi’s Gate is the ancestral home of Mr. M.K.Gandhi, the father of the nation. This was constructed in 1880 and currently consists of the ‘Gandhi Smriti’ which is a memorial museum that comprises of photographs and personal effects.
Mahatma Gandhi High School
The Mahatma Gandhi High School was formerly called as Alfred High School. It was founded in 1853 and Mr. M.K.Gandhi had his secondary education in this school. The building of this school has a Gothic Norman structure.
The Rajkumar College
The foundation stone of the Rajkumar College was laid down in 1868. The Princes and Chiefs of Kathiawar established this college for the education of their children and relations. In 1938, this college became a public school due to the initiative of the founding members.
Watson Museum and Library
The Watson Museum and Library is situated in the Jubilee Gardens and is open from 9 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5 pm. There are several grand portraits and photographs of European dignitaries and royal princes of Saurashtra. One can also find princely relics, pottery and handicrafts. There is also a large 19th century statue of Queen Victoria of marble which is very impressive. Textiles, natural history exhibits, silver ware, 13th century carvings and copies of artifacts from Mohenjo Daro are also exhibited.
