Tourist Guide Sonepat
Sonepat or Sonipat is a municipal council and an ancient town in Sonipat district in the Haryana state.
It is conceived that the five Pandava brothers from the great epic Mahabharata established this place called as Suvarnaprastha. As per another opinion, Raja Soni the thirteenth descendant of Arjuna (one of the Pandava brothers) was responsible for its creation.
As per the census of 2001, the population of Sonepat was 0.216 million.
Sonepat has a dry climate with a cold winter and hot summer. During the monsoon (July to September), the climate becomes more mild. In October and November, there is a transition period.
Some times there are cold waves when the temperature drops below the freezing point of water and frosts may take place.
