As it is considered as a hill station with a cool and wonderful climate, the tourism industry has very well flourished here. The Tibetan population here has greatly helped this city to gain this popularity. The major attraction here is the Tsuglag Khang, which is the Dalai Lama’s temple. It has statues of important Tibetan religions such as Shakyamuni and Guru Rinpoche. Other Buddhist sites that are to be found here are the Namgyal Monastery which is a school for performing arts. This institute acts like a magnet for the Tibetan crowd. The surrounding cities i.e. Dharamsala, Palampur and Kangra also provide efficient tourist comfort. Triund is another tourist spot. Also present is the ‘St. John’ church which is built up entirely in stone and is a monument of the 18th century. The Dal Lake also has been proving itself an important place to visit by holding national festivals which are attended by the Gurkha community.
