Shimla is well- connected with rest of the cities and states in India. It is accessible via air, railway and road. The nearest airport is Jubbarhati Airport which is located at about 23 kms from Shimla.
However, the only convenient way to reach the city is via the famous Toy Train. This narrow gauge train is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for its steep track. The train connects Shimla with the Punjabi city of Kalka. It covers a distance of 96.54 kms and passes through 102 tunnels.
Delhi is another convenient destination to board on a train. Buses are the most frequently obtained mode of transportation. These buses link Shimla with nearby cities like Kalka and Delhi. Besides this, buses run frequently run inside the city.
The buses provided by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation are comfortable and regular as well. Travelers can hire taxis, jeeps and other vehicles for exploring the city closely.
