Gaiety Theatre
The Gaiety Theatre is one of the famous heritage buildings of Shimla. It was constructed as a replica of a famous British old theater. For some decades, it had served as a main platform for various cultural activities of the city.
It is situated in The Mall, which is a very popular tourist attraction within Shimla. There are a number of shopping centers, restaurants and food-stalls near the theater. Lakkar Bazaar can be reached within some minutes, while the Ridge is famous for its wood-crafts and souvenirs.
The Gaiety Theatre, being one of the prominent landmarks of the city has recently undergone some restoration work. The Chief Minister of Shimla recently dedicated one of the portions to the Amateur Dramatic Club of the city.
The club took initiation and efforts for this restoration project. Restoration of the remaining portions of the theater is currently underway. Once done, the theater would fully regain its grandeur.
