Shimla is a famous hill station in India. Majority of the shops in this city hold local handicrafts and agricultural products. The Mall Road is popular shopping destination in Shimla.
Kashmiri Pashminas can be bought from here. Several other woolen textiles can also be found here. The State Emporium in the city holds a vast collection of local handicrafts.
These include metal work, tweeds, carpets, jams, squashes and pickles. This is a best place to buy Tibetan stuff and that too without visiting Tibet. Many Tibetan hawkers sell Tibetan carpets, clothes, bags and jewelry.
Lakkar Bazaar or the market of wood holds a wide range of wooden objects, including wooden toys, carved sticks and decorative pieces. The shops here also sell handmade shoes, woolen caps and dolls.
Tourists can buy fresh fruits like mangoes, plum and peaches in the markets, which are open till midnight. Sabji Mandi, Ganj Mandi and Ram Bazaar are some other famous shopping destinations.
