Jammu city is located in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir in India, and also is the winter capital of this state.
There are a very large number of temples and shrines in this city and hence it is called as “City of Temples.”
The average height of this place is 327 meters.
In the city of Jammu, there is a sub-tropical climate. The area is cool and pleasant. In the summer, the temperature may rise to 45 °C and it is very hot and dry. In the winter, the temperature may drop to 0 °C.
As per the census of 2001, the population of Jammu was 378,431.
Out of these, Hinduism is practiced by 71 percent, while Islam by 24 percent. About 67 percent of the people in Kashmir are Dogra. Those who wish to reach the Amarnath cave or the Vaishno Devi shrine have to follow the Jammu – Katra route.
