Tourist guide Kashmir

The Kashmir Valley stretches from the north-east to the south-west for approximately 84 miles and is about 20 to 25 miles in breadth.

It is at a height of 5000 feet above the sea level. There are low lying valleys like the Sind, Poonch, Chenab and Tawi that are encircled by mountain ranges.

The climate of Kashmir Valley is much cooler than Jammu.

The daily temperatures in May and June are 20 degrees Celsius while in July and August this valley is slightly humid and still. The tourist season in Kashmir ceases in October when the temperature drops to less than 10 degrees Celsius.

The lifestyle of Kashmir is slow paced and encompasses religious diversity.

The men of the Wattal region perform a popular dance called as Dumhal while the women are associated with a folk dance called as the Rouff.

As per the census of 2001, the population of Kashmir Valley was 4 million.
