Gulmarg
Formerly, Gulmarg was only a mountain resort of unparalleled beauty. Currently, this is the highest green golf course in the world as well as the premier ski resort of the nation in the winter. During the journey to Gulmarg one comes across a point called ‘View Point’ from where the travelers can enjoy the spectacle of snow covered mountains.
Pahalgam
Pahalgam or the ‘Valley of Shepherds’ is located at the confluence of the Lidder river and stream flowing from the Sheshnag Lake. At a height of 2130 meters this place is the premier resort of Kashmir. Even in peak summer season, the temperature of Pahalgam is not more than 25 degrees Celsius. As this resort is set amidst steep hills, tourists are recommended to hire a pony instead of walking. Baisaran is a large and rolling meadow that is encircled by thick pine wooded forests. On the way to Chandanwari, Hajan is an ideal location for a picnic.
Sonmarg
Sonmarg or ‘the meadow of gold’ is located at a height of 2730 meters and the Sindh River passes through this valley consists of mahaseer and trout. During the summer, the major attraction is the Thajiwas glacier which can be reached with the aid of ponies.
