The monastery was the first ever establishment for the teachings of this particular sect in Ladakh. Each year, the monastery holds the Gang-sgnon Tsedub festival on the 17th to the 19th of the first month.
The monastery also provides a platform for hosting sacred dances in the selective months from the Tibetan calendar.
Numerous sacred shrines are located inside the monastery along with exquisite wall-paintings which dates back to the royal period. There is a museum situated near the complex which is almost 900 years old.
