Leh: Streets, Squares and Neighbourhoods

The Vegetable Market in Leh is situated on the left side of Library Road, going downhill. Although quite easy to miss, this place provides a pure delight for both the senses of sight and smell.

The variety of vegetables is tremendous. Some of the vegetables are quite rare and you may not find them anywhere else. It is common to see half the visitors just enquiring about the name while the other half is busy buying them!

However, most of the names are Ladakhi, which may not exactly serve the curiosity. Apart from vegetables, the market also offers perfumes and other aromatic stuff. Some of the vegetables smell just as good as they look!

This market sure is a better way to spend your time away from the usual souvenir shops and food stalls. The market also provides you with some rare herbs and mountain tea.
