The Dal Lake is like an icon for the city of Srinagar. The lake is two masses of water, Lokutdal and Boddal.
This lake has houseboats, that is, boats which are mini-houses having all amenities.
The Nagin (female snake) Lake instead is surrounded by willow and poplar trees. It is smaller than the Dal Lake.
Mughal Gardens : the Mughals admired the city of Srinagar and constructed many gardens here. The most wonderful terraced Mughal gardens are the gardens of Cheshmashahi, Shalimar and Nishat. They consist of multitudes of flowerbeds and beautiful fountains.
Amarnath is one of the most holy Hindu shrines in the world. It is dedicated to the family of Lord Shiva. It attracts many pilgrims from different parts of the world.
One can reach Amarnath from Srinagar via Jammu by road or fly directly from Srinagar to Amarnath.
Finally, the Shankaracharya Temple is another top-spot of the places. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the oldest temples in India, dating back to 250 B.C.
