The best time to travel to Jammu and Kashmir is between the months of September and April. Winters are pleasant and suitable at this time and one can see beautiful landscapes covered entirely with colorful flowers and snow covered mountains.

This first Himalayan state of India has a subtropical climate, experiencing hot summers and cold winters, pleasant and cool weather year round. From June to July, Jammu and Kashmir receives the maximum amount of rainfall. Also, despite of its hot climate, Hindu devotees come here during the summer season to visit Lord Shiva at the Amarnath Yatra, a Hindu pilgrimage held each year. It is said that a person achieves salvation by visiting this shrine.

In some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, winters can be little crowded and due to this it’s the peak season for the tourists. Spring (March and April) is the most beautiful time of the year, where one can see the nature scenery all exotic and marvelous. Autumn (September and October) is the time when one can attend the most important Hindu festival, Diwali.
