Dhanbad is the third largest city in Jharkhand also called as the “City of Coal” or the “Coal Capital” of India due to the coal mines and industrial establishments.
The city is located on the river Damodar and close to the dammed lakes. Here one can find the Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology and also the Central Fuel Research Institute.
As per the 2001 census, the population of Dhanbad was 0.198 million.
Throughout the year, Dhanbad has a moderate climate and rainfall occurs in all seasons which sums to about 1418 mm per year. In summer, the temperature varies from 22 to 42 degrees Celsius while in winter it ranges from 8 to 22 degrees Celsius.
The languages spoken in this country are Bengali, Hindi and English
