Tourist Guide Chikamagalur
Chikamagalur is a large district in the state of Karnataka in southern India. It is also renowned as the birthplace of coffee in India. To the north is the Shimoga district, the Tumkur to its east and Hassan to the south. It consists of mountainous terrains and plateaus which are a part of the western ghats in that region. It also holds home to the ‘Mullayanagiri’, which is the highest peak in the state. The famous tourist hill stations Kemmanagundi and Kudremukh are also a part of this area. There are exquisite water falls whose beauty can only be imagined by seeing it. The name of this town means ‘Town of the Younger Daughter’. The normal average rainfall here is high and can go up to 1925 mm. A large part of this city is covered with forests. There is an abundance of rivers and lake such as Bhadra, Tunga, Netravati, etc which flow for the entire year. The area is rich in natural resources like iron ore and manganese. The soil found here is fertile and is black. This district has a total population of 11, 39,104. Most of the population live a rural life whereas there are also a few who prefer to remain urban.
