The altitude of this place makes it a wonderful place to visit throughout the year. Besides the presence of famous hill stations make the visit even more enjoyable. The Kemmangundi is a must see place out here. It has a pleasant climate and is surrounded by thick forests. The Baba Budan Giri range surrounds this region. It has gardens and valleys that are a treat to the eye. The sunset is one of the few things which must not be missed from this district. Then there is the Sitalayanagiri where there is a temple of Lord Shiva which has a specialty that the water in which the temple is built neither increases nor decreases. Manikyadhara water falls is a memorable spot for the tourists because here the water flows in the form of droplets giving the visitors a glittering bath. Also there are Shiva, Shanti and Hanuman waterfalls which are equally enjoyable. Known for its architecture the Vidyasankara temple in Shringeri is a terrific spot well known for its splendid architecture. There are five ponds in the temple itself.

The Sabarmati Ashram was the dwelling of the great Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. It is situated close to Vadaj.
