Tourist Guide Ernakulam
Ernakulam is the eastern section of Kochi city in the state of Kerala. It is the most urban part of Kochi.
The name of the city is derived from the Ernakulathappan Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Some are of the view that the name is derived from the Malayalam word “Ere naal Kulam” which means “Pond for a long time.”
The Kerala High Court and the office of the Corporation of Cochin exist in this city. The city is the commercial capital of the state.
The average maximum temperature of this city can rise to 36 °C in summer and drop to a minimum of 18 °C in winter. May to September is the ideal period to visit this place.
The Ernakulam district has an area of 2408 square kilometers and a population of 2.7 million.
