The Cochin International Airport is situated at Nedumbassery and is also called as Nedumbassery Airport or Kochi International Airport.
It is the first international airport to be constructed in India with a minority Central Government stake in a public-private partnership where the sum of the state as well as central government stake is 26 percent.
The distance of this airport from Kochi is 30 kilometers and there are pre-paid taxis to reach the airport. The airport has a runway of 3,400 meters. Hence, it can accommodate any type of aircraft present in commercial service.
If the international traffic of airports is compared, this ranks as the fourth busiest in India.
The International Terminals serves SriLankan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Kuwait Airways, Jet Airways, Jazeera Airways, Gulf Air, Etihad Airways, Emirates Airways, Bahrain Air, Air India and Air Arabia.
