The peninsula at Cochin Bay is an interesting spot to visit as it features a Portuguese and Dutch colony with a lot of interesting places to see here such as the Jew Synagogue, the Chinese fishing nets, the old tiny alleys and the Dutch palace.
Kerala has an abundance of coconut trees and one can find that most of traditional dishes have some amount of coconut used in preparing their dishes.
The fresh coconut water here is quite refreshing and something to try. Beware of buying Kashmiri handicraft items here at twice the rate of what one can get elsewhere.
So, either bargain with the shopkeepers or just plain refuse to buy at high rates.
The climate is hot and humid in Kochi, so carry loose and light clothing. Also remember to pack your sunglasses, sunscreen lotion and hat.
A mosquito repellent can be extremely handy as this part of the country has a large number of mosquitoes.
