Tourist Guide Munnar
In the Kerala state in South India are situated the Southern Western Ghats wherein the town of Munnar lies. The name Munnar refers to the entire tourist region in Idukki District.
In this district, Munnar has the biggest panchayat of an area of 557 square KMS. The word Munnar is formed from the Malayalam (an Indian language) words, Munu meaning three and aaru meaning river.
The reason is that three rivers Kundaly, Muthirappuzha and Chandayurai rivers come together at this town. Close to this town one can view the Mattupetty Dam.
The traditions and culture of Munnar is affected by that of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
