Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple is situated inside the port city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It is known as one of the 108 divya desams (holy dwelling) of Lord Vishnu, who is locally known as Padmanabhaswamy.

He is depicted in the form of Anananthasayanam (eternal sleep of Yognidra), which is the specialty of the temple.

The temple has a hundred-foot and 7-tier gopuram and it stands on the side of the lake, Padam Teertham. The temple corridor is made of granite-stone pillars which have elaborate carvings on them.

The corridor is stretched from the eastern side of the temple to the sanctum sanctorum. In the sanctum, there is a Vishnu idol which is in a reclining position over the serpent Anatha.

The idol is made up of more then 10008 saligrams. The construction of the temple is done in such a way that the three distinct parts of Vishnu idol, his face, his naval and his feet can be seen from three different doors of the temple.

Numerous shrines are also located inside the temple including Krishna, Ayyappa, Narasimha and Hanumana.
