Varkala Beach is a seaside resort and also a centre of pilgrimage for Hindus. It houses the Janardana Swamy Temple which is 2000 years old.

The Akkulam Lake is 3 kilometres from Thiruvananthapuram. It has a children’s park as well as boating facilities.

The Koyikkal Palace dates back to the 15th century. It is situated on way to Ponmudi hill-station, 18 kilometres away from Thiruvananthapuram.
