Padmanabha Swamy Temple is a very well-known spot in Thiruvananthapuram and a sacred place for the Hindus. This is the only temple where the statue of Lord Vishnu can be found in a reclining position.

Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple, but the architecture of the temple is outstanding and can be admired by anyone.

Covalam Beach has become a very famous picnic spot for locals and visitors alike. Many hotels, restaurants and resorts can be found along the beach.

During the first quarter of each year, the Kerala Tourism organizes the Nishagandhi Festival, which showcases the various art and cultural forms of Kerala.

The streets of Kerala would appear too muddy for foreign tourists, so it is advisable not to wear loose clothes when you go out.

The food is served on banana leaves, which is a tradition of Kerala and it is expected that you eat with your right hand and not cutlery.

Local sight seeing can be done by hiring local auto-rickshaws, which are fairly cheap.
