Parsvanath Temple is the largest Jain temple in Khajuraho. The sculpture and decoration is one of the best in the town. The temple is constructed from different shades of sandstone like cream or red or black on a terrace that is 4 feet in height.
The sculpture of this temple has a recurring motif in what seems like a dragon being killed by a St. George like figure and while every statue is different the St. George like figure kills the dragon in varying ways.
Sometimes the dragon is eating a person while sometimes trying to eat the St. George like figure.
In some carvings, the St. George like figure has an elephant head, while in some there is a beak but in most of the carvings St. George is a man who size is one fourth of the dragon and in some sculptures, the dragon also has an elephant head.
On the south side of this temple, there are sculptures of women carrying out their routine activities. In some, a woman is removing a thorn from her foot or a woman is cuddling her baby or a woman is putting an eye make up.
