The Shantinath Temple situated in Khajuraho is a Jain Temple renowned for the statue of Jain Tirthankar, Lord Adinath which is 4.5 meters high and portrays the Lord in a standing posture.
Many are of the opinion that this statue was created in 1028 AD. This sacred Jain shrine is visited by Digamber Jain pilgrims throughout the year. These tourists do not have any problem of accommodation as there are good lodging facilities at the Dharamsala close to the temple.
It is believed that the huge idol here has miraculous powers due to which about 400 years back, when some invaders came to destroy the idol and began to hammer the little finger milk oozed out while after some time a dense flock of honey bees came and began to attack the invaders who ran away at the sight of the bees.
Due to such incidences, people have immense faith in this location. It is believed that those devotees who come here with a pure heart and who recite the prayers experience that their wishes are fulfilled.
