The Panna National Park is located in Madhya Pradesh in Chhattarpur district and is 57 kilometers from Khajuraho. This region is renowned for its diamond mining industry and also houses one of the best wildlife species in India.
Additionally, this park is also a good Tiger Reserve in the country. The park comprises of mixed deciduous forests and its terrain is rocky, uneven with scrubby vegetation and grass.
The wild life that can be seen in these forests are the Sambar, the Chinkara, the Sloth Bear, the Chital, the wolf and the Tiger. It is not very easy to view a tiger and is only possible when there is patience combined with luck.
The Ken River flows from this region towards the north and houses the prime Indian species of crocodiles, known as the long snouted gharial and the mugger. Another highlight of this park is the Pandav falls where the lake is supplied water by the waterfall.
There is also the Rajgarh Palace which is an impressive example of architecture.
