The city of Amravati comes under the Vidharba region of the Maharashtra state. It is located in the north eastern region of the Maharashtra state. Amravati is also known as “The Cotton City” in Maharashtra. This name is given to the city because of the excessive amount of cotton grown in the city. The cotton mills in the city are an important source of economy for the city. Amravati is also a very spiritual city and has several temples of the Hindu goddess Amba, Shri Venkateswara and Shri lord Krishna. The most important trivia about the city is that the present President of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil is from this city. The typical Indian Subtropical climate is observed in the city. The climate of the city is quite moderate. In summers the temperatures range from 30 to 40 degree Celsius and in winter the temperature ranges from 20 to 32 degree Celsius. The total area of the city comprises of land of around 24 square miles and the population of the city is around 58,312.
