Ajanta and Ellora caves are the finest examples of cave-temple architecture. These caves represent the three faiths of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism that were carved during the period of 200 BC to 700 AD. There are thirty caves which were awarded as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The caves are in a horse shoe shape and are built up in mountains along which the Wangura River flows from a height of 200ft, thus making it a series of waterfalls.
It is one of the most popular tourist destinations of India, drawing attention of thousands of tourists, architects and conservationists around different parts of the world. The caves are situated in Aurangabad and are accessible by air, rail and road. There are many nearby places of interests in Aurangabad along with Ajanta Ellora caves such as Bibi ka Maqbara, state archaeological museum and many more to keep you engaged in whole tour.
