The Chowpatty Beach is situated at the northern end of Marine Drive in South Mumbai.
One can reach this place by boarding trains or buses or hiring taxis or autos from the city. This beach is not intended for swimming or sunbathing. It is only meant for eating from the food stalls present on the beach.
During the day, this beach is a good spot for those who desire to rest under the shade of small trees. However, as the evening begins, the Chowpatty Beach is transformed to a place of celebration.
The place is full of people, balloon sellers, ferry rides and food kiosks. The children can enjoy the pony rides and ferry rides. The wayside astrologers use this as a fine opportunity to make some quick money.
One can also view the shows of monkey-trainers, snake charmers, contortionists, beebee-gun shooting galleries and professional masseurs.
There are stalls that offer local delicacies like the Kulfi, Pani Puri and Pav Bhaji. It is rather tough to resist the temptation of eating ‘bhel-puri.’
