The Navi Mumbai International Airport is a new proposed airport that is yet to be constructed at the Kopra-Panvel region, through public-private partnership.
The Government of Maharashtra and Airports Authority of India get 13 percent equity each, while the private sector partner has got 74 percent equity.
For this airport, the necessary amount of land is 11.4 square kilometers. Two parallel runways are being planned and both of these are to be 4,500 meters long.
Near Panvel, on highway NH 4B, this airport is to be located and it is 35 kilometers away from the present Sahar International Airport, moreover this airport has received the techno-feasibility clearance from the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The terminal area of the airport is planned to be 250,000 square meters, while the cargo area is to be 100,000 square meters. It is estimated that this airport would manage 50 to 55 million passengers per year.
