The Mumbadevi Temple situated at Bhuleshwar in Mumbai is a famous holy spot in the city. The name of the city Mumbai is derived from the Mumba Devi temple.
The Goddess Mumba Devi is considered to be ‘Shakti’ by the devotees who worship her with extreme devotion. The temple is very simple and lacks intricate architecture.
In the main shrine, the statue of the goddess looks very impressive as it is clad in rich clothes, a silver crown, a golden necklace and a nose stud. The altar is decorated with marigold flower garlands.
In front of the Goddess Mumba Devi exists a statue of a tiger that makes the mount of the goddess. Towards the left of the goddess is a statue of Goddess Annapurna who is mounted on a peacock.
There are also other shrines in this temple complex that are dedicated to Lord Balaji, Narsoba, Jagannath, Murlidhar, Indrayani, Mahadev, Maruti and Ganesh
