The Rajabai Clock Tower is named after the mother of Premchand Roychand, as he contributed towards the construction.
It is situated in the gardens of the Fort campus of the Mumbai University and can be reached by taxi, auto rickshaw, bus or local train.
This tower was designed on the lines of Big Ben in London and it is a combination of the Gothic and Venetian styles also buff colored Kurla stone was used to construct it.
On the ground floor there are two rooms having dimensions 17 X 8.5 meters, the tower is a carriage porch 2.4 square meters and the area of the spiral staircase vestibule is 2.52 square meters.
Above the carriage porch, the tower has a square form upto a height of 20.7 meters where it changes to an octagon. The height from the gallery to the top of the tower is 36 meters, whereas the total height of the clock tower is 78 meters.
Currently, the tower plays one tune after every 15 minutes.
