The Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai is located at Kala Ghoda in the Fort area and is adjacent to the Prince of Wales Museum and opposite to Elphistone College.
This history of this gallery is linked with the renaissance of art in India and hence it is a very sought after venue by artists to exhibit their art.
In the city, this place can be reached by auto rickshaws, taxis, buses and local trains. This gallery is the most known art gallery in India and a tourist attraction. It was founded in the year 1952 by Sir Cowasji Jehangir after the request of Homi Bhabha and K.K.Hebbar.
There are four exhibition halls. The Jehangir Art Gallery is open on all days of the year from 11 am to 7 pm. There is no entry fee for visitors. Along with time, the works of art exhibited in the museum are altered.
In the Jehangir Art Gallery, there is a very popular café known as Samovar, where one can understand the socialist culture of the 70s. In front of the Jehangir Art Gallery, there is a plaza where artists offer their work for sale.
