Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum is named in the memory of Mr. Mohandas K.Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
It is situated at Laburnam Road, close to Nana Chowk of Gamdevi, in Mumbai. A visitor can reach this place by hiring taxis or autos or boarding buses or trains.
The Mani Bhavan was the residence of Mr. Gandhi from 1917 to 1934. While this great freedom fighter was staying at this place, several struggle movements like Khilafat, Khadi, Swadeshi, Satyagraha and Non-Cooperation were initiated.
This structure has two storeys as well as a reference library where more than twenty thousand books are stored. There is also a photo display on the life of Mr. Gandhi.
A major attraction of this place is the old Charkha or spinning wheel that Mr. Gandhi had used. Mani Bhavan is closely linked with the life of Mr. Gandhi and is visited to recall the moments in the life of this freedom fighter.
