Ramtek

In Ramtek, there is a Lord Rama temple above a hill where the Ramanavami festival is celebrated. The place is called as Ramtek because it was graced by the holy feet of Lord Rama and his consort Sita. This place is referred to as Ramgiri in one of the excellent works of the Sanskrit poet Kalidas called Meghdootam.

Nawegaon Dam

The most popular forest resort in the Vidarbha region is called as Nawegaon Dam where it is possible to participate in several adventure sports. This dam was constructed at the beginning of the 18th century by Kolu Patel Kohli. At several spots there are watchtowers to view wild life in action.

Close to this dam exists the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary which is a deer park.

Dhapewada

Dhapewada is also referred to as the Pandharpur of Vidarbha. This place is situated on the banks of the Chandrabhaga River where there is a temple of Lord Vithoba which has been built by Umaji Aba who was the diwan (minister) to Raja Bajirao Bhonsle.

The Khindsey Lake is located 60 kilometers from Nagpur and 8 kilometers from Ramtek which is an ideal picnic spot and several water sports can be practiced here. There are consistent bus services from Nagpur and Ramtek to this lake.
