Panchgani can be referred to as a town governed by municipal council, and located in district of Satara in ‘Maharashtra, India’. This place had been discovered by British rulers at the time of British Raj in the form of one of the summer resorts. Moreover, in 1860s, John Chesson, a superintendent was placed ‘in-charge’ of this hill-station. The credit for existence of western species such as poinsettia and silver oak goes to him.
The name ‘Panchgani’ has been given to this place as it’s nestled amidst 5 hills in Sahyadris. These 5 trims have been topped by ‘volcanic plateau’ that is the 2nd highest one in Asia (the first one is the Tibetan Plateau). The other name for this plateau is ‘table land’. It is a portion of Deccan Plateau as well.
As of census conducted in the year 2001, around 9% of population was had been under the age of 6.
