Tourist Guide Pune:

Pune (also pronunced Poona) is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra in Western India and the eighth most populous metropolitan area in India with over 5 million people.

Pune is situated 560 metres above sea level and has its name derived from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘City of Virtue’.

After this historic town where several important battles were fought, known for its educational facilities and large number of students (also known as the Boston of the East), was brought under the control of British India in 1817, it served as a Cantonment town as well as the "monsoon capital" of the Bombay Presidency.

It has now grown into a major commercial block within India, with manufacturing and Information Technology contributing to a major portion of the cities revenues.

The temperature in Pune is tropical wet and dry with summer months from March – May; Monsoons lasting till October and Winters commencing by around November.

Pune is urban yet has a beautiful countryside to it. Kondhwa is the place to be. Vimannagar, Kalyani nagar and koregaon are just like Mumbai city but getting very crowded and commercial. There are a lot of IT companies springing up in Pune. The weather as compared to Mumbai is far better. There is less polllution and the army cantonments and command areas make it a very safe and liveable place because of which the crime rate is also very low. Many mubaikars are migrating to Pune to find some calm and solace. In a few years from now Pune is going to be the "next big thing" ... cheers

Once upon a time it was a city of pensionars which later became hub of education. It is called as Oxford of Maharashtra. Now the city has become capital of Information technology. The city has rich cultural heritage. Visit places like Shaniwar wada, raja dinkar Kelkar museum, Parvati and Agakhan palace. Dont miss visit to Chitale Bandhu Maithaiwala their speciality is Bakharwadi, Kayani bakery for schrewsburry biscuits.

Pune is amazing, the amount of traffic is growing day by day. I think the traffic part of Pune is not managed and well planned. The roads are good. Slowly it is becoming expensive but overall an affordable stay in Pune is possible. Amount of green in pune is increasing which is a good sign and this should go on increasing.....

Pune is a very interesting city to visit and enjoy various sites for 4/5 days. There are both traditional and modern aspects to the city. It is developing on all sides geographically. Weatherwise it is very friendly. Public transport by auto-rikshaw is most convenient. Eateries are well developed and offer all types of food.

Beautiful city, rich in culture and heritage..its one of rapidly growing cities thus traffics, mall are highly increasing. Awesome place during monsoon.. A drive around the outskirts is very relaxing.. It is a little expensive but the climate and places around it are wonderful.

Transportation needs a lot of improvement as there is no traffic sense and road discipline. There is need for for greener and healthier environment as the pollution level is alarmingly increasing. We need to plant more trees and take care of our surroundings, our heritage.

Pune- Alandi route. Similarly, for the Tukaram palkhi, the PMPML bus service will run via Chinchwad-Aundh route instead of the Pune-Mumbai highway stretch. Buses shall be diverted or stopped at Kasarwadi, Bhosari and Wakdewadi, Sunil Gawali, PMPML traffic incharge said.

A very balanced city... city transport is good but requires more connection with outskirts of pune e,g dehu road, hingenwadi, amanora city, airport etc. We may have few help centres to guide people for direction and if possible on health, education etc.
