Sinhagad Fort is one of the most famous attractions of Maharashtra situated in a distance of 25 km from the city of Pune. It is located at 700m above the surrounding landscape. Due to its height, the fort also serves as a well-liked trekking destination in Pune. Once known for its brilliant architecture, the fort now stands in mostly in ruins. The nearby Panshan lake and magnificent views from the top makes it a much adored and desired picnic spot.
This 17th century historical fort offers lots of nearby interests along with the bungalow of Lokmanya Tilak where Tilak and great politician of India, Mahatma Gandhi met in 1915. One can also enjoy the bhaji and dahi wati offered at the top while visiting the Fort. The place is accessible by local buses for those less athletic!
