Tourist Guide Thana
Thana is a part of the Mumbai Conurbation in the state of Maharashtra, India. The city is named so because it is based at the head of the Thana Creek. Based on the Salsette Island, this city has vast land areas that measure up to 147 sq. kilometres. It is divided into two parts by the creek and these parts are connected by two roads and one railway bridges. This city is famous for its lakes that count up to 30. The lakes have emerged as important tourist hangouts as they offer a variety of entertainment activities. The population has increased manifolds during the past few decades and this place has seen a great amount of development. The language that is spoken here is Marathi. The climate here is a bit humid otherwise it is hot. The summers can get pretty hot and the winters are comfortable. This city is connected to other towns of Mumbai via the local train system. The celebration of festivals takes place on a grand scale here and the Dahi Handi festival of this city is famous all over the country.
