Tourist Guide Ulhasnagar
The city of Ulhasnagar is situated on the western coast of India. It is about 37 kilometres from the city of Mumbai, the capital of the state of Maharashtra. It is based in the Thane District. The majority of the population here is comprised of the Sindhi Community. This is the reason it is nicknamed as 'Sindhunagar'. The name 'Ulhasnagar' was kept because of the River Ulhas that passes through it. It is also the closest city to Kalyan, a leading suburb of Mumbai. This city has an estimated population of about 472,943 people and most of them are involved in private businesses or are self employed. This city was originally a refugee camp for soldiers and other persons who suffered in wars. The Sindhis then started living here and soon made this city as a business sector. Today Ulhasnagar has all type of industries, right from clothes to electronics. This city is divided into five sections that are referred to as No.1, No.2 etc. The Sindhi festival 'Chaliyo' is celebrated with a true religious spirit and full of gusto.
