Kohima is the capital city of the Indian state of Nagaland. It is located on the top of a high ridge.
It experiences moderate climatic conditions. Owing to a heavy rainfall in the region it is never too hot in summers, however winters are biting cold. Snowfall occurs in December and January.
It houses 78,000 inhabitants as per the 2001 census. The natives of Kohima are Angamis, Aos and Rengmas among the sixteen tribes of Nagaland.
Kohima is said to be the home of the brave and the daring. It is well known for its good and unhurried pace of life.
The Kohima village is the largest village of Asia. The traditional dress of women is called Mekhla.
