The Delhi Metro, also called as the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), is managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
This system was opened in 2002. This is the second underground system in India, the first being at Kolkata.
The system in Mumbai differs from the one in Kolkata in the aspect that it has a combination of underground, street level and elevated lines.
Out of these, the Metro corridor runs underground for a length of 13.01 kilometers and the Rail Corridor runs on surface or elevated for a length of 52.10 kilometers.
The Phase II would be completed by 2010. This has a route length of 128 kilometers and there would be 79 stations.
